The Club sponsors field trips during non-snow months for members to add to their collections. Many of the trips are to the “poor rock” piles at old copper mines.
There are occasional trips to collect iron minerals elsewhere in the Upper Peninsula.
In 2018 there were also trips to an amethyst mine in northern Ontario, and to a former silver mining district in eastern Ontario.

Club access to rock piles for field trips is always with permisson from the owner and is covered by Club insurance. Although collecting is often allowed on some piles belonging to public agencies it is the Club’s practice to not suggest or recommend collecting on any piles.
