For many years the Club has conducted the Copper Country Gem and Mineral Show
during the second weekend in August. Athough it is free to the public, it is a fund
raising activity for the Club. It starts Friday afternoon runs through Saturday and ends
min-afternoon Sunday.
At the show 7 to 9 dealers, most non-local, offer a wider variety of minerals, fossils,
gems, jewelry, and historical or mining items and documents. Throughout the show the
club holds a silent auction, provides displays of mineral or historical interests, and sells
magazines and club clothing.
During the show, there is also a “Treasure Hunt ” where children between the ages of 6 and 15 can use metal detectors to hunt for copper and metal artifacts in a pile of sawdust. As well as to grab bags for the children attending the show.
Occasionally there have been demonstrations and/or lectures.
